Congregation Tifereth Israel
Lincoln's Home for Conservative Judaism
Congregation Tifereth Israel was founded in Lincoln in the early 20th century. The original synagogue building opened at 18th and L Street in Lincoln to become the spiritual home for many Jewish settlers, mostly of Central European origin. In 1954 a new synagogue building was constructed in the Country Club neighborhood near Sheridan Boulevard. The current Tifereth Israel building features two sanctuary spaces with beautiful stained-glass windows, a large social hall with a performance stage, and is home to the Lincoln Jewish Community School (LJCS) for school-aged children.
A Vibrant Conservative Community
Congregation Tifereth Israel is a member of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ). Conservative Judaism is rooted in the wisdom gained at the intersection of heritage and progress. This balance allows Jews to lead truly fulfilled lives; and in an ever-evolving world, provides a message of compassion, enlightenment, and holiness to communities everywhere.
